This is a bit difficult. It’s still going to be better than it was but the paint was fairly dead before and the new paint looks good. The primer went on smooth but the touch up paint came out fairly globby and I tried to wet sand it down. Hit a spot that got to primer so back again with the touch up paint. Probably more wet sanding. Clear coat tomorrow since it says to wait 24 hrs then more wet sanding.

Oh......life lesson - use the spray kind of touch up paint. Use some garbage bags and painters tape to protect the surface around the area to be touched up. The spray paint goes on much easier and leaves behind a much better finish. The liquid paint is more for rock chips than area patching.

I bought the pen/brush  for smaller areas and then decided to tackle this bigger spot for some reason.

Yeah, many autoparts stores have the little shorty cans of duplicolor spray paint and those tend to work the best for areas like this one. I got lucky and my old Buick was generic GM gloss black so it was dirt cheap and readily available.

As our man with sauce pointed out, you need a spray can for anything more than a small chip touch up. Any auto paint supply shop can mix you up a spray can of the correct color for like $15.00

Unfortunately this is a weird color and I know where to get spray cans online but for the time being I’m going to go with what I have. Honestly the whole car needs a respray so it’s not like I’m bringing it back to showroom condition. Really appreciate all the insight on this and I guarantee I will do better in the future

I kind of thought it was on the larger side for being able to use the brush but still possible  and was proven wrong. Good to know for the future but I’m not super concerned with it looking 100% since the rest of the car is rough. Great practice for the future though!
